태권도 인성교육을 위한 ‘인성’ 개념 고찰
이 논문의 목적은 태권도 인성교육을 위한 ‘인성’ 개념을 동양의 인성론과 한국의 전통사상 안에서 살펴봄으로써, 태권도에 함의된 고유한 정신가치를 계승하고, 전통무예인 태권도를 통한 인성교육프로그램의 덕목개발과 활용에 대한 지적 토대를 마련하는데 있다. 이에 대한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 태 권도 수련 자체가 인성교육이다. 둘째, 태권도 인성교육은 태권도다움의 구현 과 인격도야에 있다. 셋째, 태권도 인성교육은 동양사상에서 논한 인성 개념 을 폭넓게 이해하여 태권도 수련에 함의된 인성덕목을 논의해야 한다. 넷째, 태권도 인성교육은 한국 고유의 전통사상에 함의된 효제, 충신, 공경, 자애와 같은 덕목을 태권도 수련활동과 연계시킴으로써 태권도만의 역사성이 응축된 인성덕목을 형성해야 한다. 태권도 인성교육은 몸 수련 이외에도 마음을 함 께 수련하는 인성교육이 중요하다는 것을 강조하였다. 또한 태권도만의 고유 한 특성을 가진 인성교육프로그램을 운영하기 위해서는 태권도의 수련활동과 전통무예의 정신문화 안에서 형성된 ‘인성’ 개념을 이해하는 작업이 보다 심 화되어야 한다. 이를 위해서는 무엇보다도 동양의 종교사상과 한국의 전통문 화 안에서 태권도의 무도문화 형성에 영향을 준 개념들을 체계적으로 기술하 고, 덕성함양을 위한 방법론으로 구체화하는 후속 작업이 필요하다.
A Study of ‘Human Nature’ for Education of Taekwondo Ethology
The goal of this paper is to study the concept of Taekwondo ethology in the Eastern and traditional Korean philosophy. The conclusion is as follows. First, the significance of Taekwondo ethology is a process of growth of a person’s character based on training of Taekwondo martial art skills and the process of qualitative transformation for a person to become a mature professional Taekwondo person. Second, The goal of Taekwondo ethology is the embodiment of Taekwondo-daum and the cultivation of Taekwondo’s character. Third, in traditional Eastern philosophy, Confucian philosophy emphasized the importance of “fundamental character”; Buddhism, the “Buddha-like nature”; and Taoism, the “character of the nature”. Fourth, in traditional Korean philosophy, the core virtue of “Seonbi” (scholar) is “benevolence and righteousness” (“in-ui”); in Zen philosophy, “taste for arts”. “Hongik Human” (humanitarianism) is the philosophy of education in Korea and also the ideal character Koreans seek to achieve. In Taekwondo training, one discovers that Taekwondo ethology is important not only in training of body but also mind. In the future, Taekwondo ethology requires follow-up work that systematically summarize basic concepts that can be used in Taekwondo ethology within Eastern and traditional Korean philosophy.
